Well, once again, it’s been a while since my last post. I am about to embark a new, busy journey by starting my MBA program this week, so I decided I needed to wrap up my 2020 and start off 2021 the right way by sharing my goals with you. Twenty-twenty was definitely not the year we all wanted. When the clock struck midnight on January 1st, 2020, I remember having so much hope for the year and accomplishing my goals. A couple weeks ago, I found a list of goals that I wrote out in one of my journals for 2020. As I went through it, I realized hey!, I actually completed a lot of these goals! It was a proud moment for me.
Regardless of the pandemic which is such a horrible, freak thing to happen, I actually achieved so much personal growth in 2020. I was finally able to focus on myself, eat better by cooking more homemade meals, make time to relax and meditate at home, exercise more regularly, and improve my chronic condition to (almost) remission. Looking back, there were so many high points for me personally that I am grateful for the opportunity to work from home and be in a comfortable environment with my family. Being in the online world of Zoom and Teams, I was also able to start an IBD support group in Reno and support the Crohn’s and Colitis Nevada Chapter located in Las Vegas, when otherwise I would not have been able to. This new world we live in has hidden opportunities everywhere, and I encourage you not to take those opportunities for granted.
This year, I wrote a new list of goals. They include:
- Stay healthy and continue to exercise regularly (maybe run a 5k?)
- Be present for my MBA and ask questions
- Save money (a must!)
- Move out – either get myself an apartment or buy a house depending on how the market is doing??!!
- Learn to cook international dishes
- Write more blog posts!
- Use social media less
- Make time to relax and meditate often when stressed
- Travel!!! (I really hope this can happen in 2021, my next stop is Italy)
Now that I have these written out, I’m hoping it will keep me accountable throughout the year. I hope you also have a list of goals for 2021 and stick to it because it is such a great feeling to check them off as you go. I’ve also found that goal lists help me put items into action and even understand myself more. I have a long-term goal list too, but that will have to remain a secret for now! 😉
